Got Outreach?

An invitation for Pastors, Congregational Reps and Outreach Leaders

We hear stories all around the Region about your congregation’s efforts (successes!) to be connected in places that make a difference.  These are stories of your connections locally and beyond.  We are proud of the richness these ministries bring to all of us as we witness our faith and commitment to “go out into the world”.

We also know that global mission is a part of our rich heritage as Disciples.  Since 1849, Disciples have been responsible for significant global ministries, sending missionaries to other parts of the world, even as our own country was still a “frontier” land. It is gratifying to be part of a movement that seeks to be a “critical presence in places of great need.”  This is the primary goal of our Global Ministries, the common witness of the Disciples and the UCC churches.

Earlier this year, our regional leaders took official action, setting a regional priority calling us to become a Global Mission Region.  As we move into 2010, we will be gathering outreach leaders to continue discussing what this might mean for us regionally, as well as congregationally.

  Be a Global Mission Church!

The Arizona Region

This past January, our regional leaders took official action to become a "Global Mission Region"  We participate with Division of Overseas Ministries in training for Mission Interpreters. We work with DOM and our own Arizona-Mexico Committee to be in partnership with Disciples in Mexico, and have played a large role in the funding and building of a church building in Nogales (work trips still being scheduled!)

We will continue to find the ways we become more and more globally aware.

Another initiative, Be a Global Mission Church, can be used to propel a congregation into new activities or to affirm numerous projects already in place.  There are lots of options. For more information and downloadable resources, go directly to the Disciples Global Ministries website --- www.globalministries.org
