Administrative Council | Moderator: Linda Miller V Moderator: Wayne Anderson | AC continues to oversee Regional corporate and financial matters. Recently this has included working with several congregations in acquiring loans for building projects, assisting in the closing of Park Ave. and creating of legacy and language for congregational legal titling. | Mission Focus | Moderator: Linda Miller V Moderator: Wayne Anderson | Team met in late March. Affirmed formation of new Congregational Vitality and Transformation Team. Considered other formats for receiving updates/reports from ministry team | Commission on Finance | Chair: Debi Windhal Staff: Denny Williams Staff: Lea Nessmith | Budgets continue to be tight. The Commission asked congregations to estimate their DMF giving this year to help provide information that could lead to more precise budgeting | Commission on Ministry | Chair: David Decker Staff: Denny Williams | The primary focus of the COM has been to develop plans and policies for ordained and commissioned ministry, in accordance with the new Ordering of Ministry adopted at our last General Assembly. A Clergy Retreat has been planned for May. Boundary Training will be held this September | Congregational Vitality and Transformation | Chair: Dave Hedgepeth Chair: Erin Wathen Staff: Denny Williams | Newly formed team which will coordinate the Region’s resourcing of congregational growth, vitality and transformation. | Disciples Women | Staff: Carol Friesen Coordinator: Rosy Cunningham | Women’s Fair held in March was well attended and well received. Women of various faiths were invited to share their stories, providing opportunity for new understandings. Women’s Retreat plans are underway, back in Prescott September 16-18 | Global Mission Region | Chair: Al Beasley Chair: LaVerne Thorpe Staff: Denny Williams Staff: Lea Nessmith | GMR is co-hosting a Global Mission Summit on May 7 that will provide training to congregations to learn more about our denominations involvement in countries all over the world. Manual Tovar will be attending, representing our new partnership with Mexico Disciples |
Hispanic | Staff: Job Cobos Hispanic Moderator: Miriam Delgado | Hispanic congregations will meet 4 times over the year in a whole day format that will include worship and leadership training | Mission Funding | Chair: Cathy Lloyd Staff: Denny Williams | Focusing on helping congregations more fully understand and support the ministries of Disciples Mission Fund. A new project (working title "Connecting the DOCs") is being developed to connect more effectively with congregations and their members | New Church | Chair: Bill Jacobs Staff: Denny Williams | Working with a number of Hispanic congregations in formation. Plans to offer connection and training opportunities as part of the on-going Hispanic gatherings throughout the year | Pro-Reconciling/Anti-Racism | Chair: Mary Jacobs Staff: Denny Williams | Launching new campaign "Building Bridges: Campaign for Wholeness through Diversity" connecting Anglo, Haitian and Hispanic congregations in partnership to develop cultural understanding and communication | Staff Relations | Chair: Wayne Anderson Staff: Denny Williams | Sabbaticals have been set for Regional Minister Denny Williams - May 22 – Jul 4 And Regional Ministry Administrator, Lea Nessmith – Jul 24 – Sep 5. | Youth and Children | Staff: Heather Tolleson | Camp plans underway. New camp facility - Camp Pinerock, Prescott June 26 – July 1. Early bird registration through April 30. Camp staff training May 21 | Youth Council | Sponsor: Jeanne Thompson Sponsor: Laurie Cleveland Staff: Heather Tolleson | New Youth Council elected. YC will participate in CYF camp this summer. Also several members will be attending General Assembly in Nashville July 9 – 13 this summer |
